Description
The first dance is a Habanera. This music style is based on an African rhythmic pattern (here: the left hand of the piano). The dance originated around 1830 in the Cuban capital, Havana.
From there, it spread across the world, particularly to Argentina, where the tango later emerged.
A very famous Habanera is Bizet’s Carmen.
The second dance is a reggae. Originating from Jamaica, it developed from Rhythm and Blues, Rock, and Soul.
The Rastafari movement is closely linked with reggae.
The most commonly used instruments are vocals, drums, trumpet, trombone, bass guitar, electric guitar, saxophone, and piano.
Bob Marley certainly revitalized reggae—think of hits like “One Love” and “No Woman, No Cry”.
